March math - ending one quarter and starting the last

Wow, the end of the year is fast approaching and this is when I realize I still have so much more to teach - so here we go . . . ADDITION is here, I start with the bowl game. The children have a stick of 5 unifix cubes, they break it in their lap and hide some under the bowl and then place the rest on top. We go around the table and show the top and say "Two AND ?" and the children guess how many is under the bowl. At first, this is truly a guess, and then after they play a few times, they get the hang of it. I write the equation on the board and then we fill in the bowl number after the child shows his number. I will play with five for a couple weeks and then we will do six, 7, 8, etc. Ordinal game on the internet.

Addition game, I have started it as an independent center for now, the children roll a number, place that many pom poms in the ear, roll again, place that number in the other ear, pull all of them down and see how many you have.

Placing numbers in order.

Domino Math, I have a better sheet attached, I am just using this one up, they write the number of dots on one side, they write the number of dots on the other, and then pull the domino down and count all of the dots together.

Missing number - the children need to WORK together to complete this task, not easy this year for mine!

And that is this week - enjoy!
